The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is a federally-funded supplemental nutrition program. WIC supports Florida Families by providing the following at no cost:
- Healthy foods
- Breastfeeding support
- Nutrition education
- Referrals to other services
Families are screened for nutritional risk and income eligibility. Licensed nutritionists and nutrition educators determine eligibility and provide nutrition assessment, counseling, and education to assist families in making healthier nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle choices.

WIC is a program for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding an infant, women who have just had a baby, and caregivers to infants and children up to 5 years of age. The WIC program provides free healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care and community services of eligible families.
All WIC services are free!
Who can receive WIC benefits?
- Women who are pregnant, recently postpartum, or breastfeeding.
- Infants
- Children up to age 5.
We welcome migrant families, military families, fathers, foster parents, and legal guardians with eligible children.

How can I qualify?
- Legal residence/citizenship is NOT required.
- Must live in Florida.

Please note that all WIC offices close at noon on the last day of each mothn for inventories and staff training.
You must also:
- Bring all necessary information to determine eligibility to your appointment.
- Bring the child, infant, or woman who is applying for in-person appointments so we can measure height/length, weight, and hemoglobin levels. You can also bring measurements from your health care provider to make your appointment go faster. The measurements must be within 60 days from your appointments.
- If eligible by income, you will see a nutrition professional and be enrolled.
You will receive an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card for specific nutritious foods to use at retail stores. The card can be used as soon as it’s received.
If you have difficulty understanding English or have a disability, free language assistance or other aids and services are available upon request.
What does WIC provide?
WIC provides:
- Nutrition education and counseling.
- Supplemental foods such as:
- Milk
- Cheese
- Eggs
- Cereal
- Whole grains
- Fruits and vegetables
- Juice
- Peanut butter
- Beans
- Baby foods
- For moms who choose not to breastfeed, WIC provides regular contract infant formulas. By having a contract with one infant formula company, WIC is able to serve more babies.
- Breastfeeding support by peer counselors and a lactation consultant.
- Manual breast pumps, if needed.
- Electric breast pumps for loan, if needed.
- Referrals for health care services.
