Char-Nequa Smith, DNP, APRN, WHNP-BC, ANP-C
Executive Community Health Nursing Director
Dr. Char-Nequa Smith began her career at the Florida Department of Health in 2013 as a nurse practitioner in Palm Beach County, working in the Family Planning, STD, and Maternity clinics. Upon graduation from nursing school, she moved to a staff nurse role on an oncology and infectious inpatient unit and a pediatric residential mental and behavioral health facility. She has subsequently served as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and Assistant Community Health Nursing Director.
Dr. Smith is currently the Executive Community Health Nursing Director in Lee County. She is member of the statewide Health Information Management Committee for the Florida Department of Health and a board member for the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida. She is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and regularly performs community service. She has a special interest in reducing teenage and adolescent pregnancies and sexually transmitted infection transmission. Dr. Smith aspires to own a mobile teen clinic to provide care to underserved teens in various communities.
Dr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Women’s Health and Adult Primary Care from Emory University, as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Miami.
