Lee County, FL— When the Fort Myers Miracle meets the Brevard County Manatees in baseball Friday evening, attendees will breathe clean air from the time they walk through the stadium gates through the ending pitch. The game is the fifth annual Tobacco-Free Lee Night at Hammond Stadium, 14400 Six Mile Cypress Parkway with the first ball thrown at 7:05 p.m. May 22, 2015.

“Our first pitch is to never start using tobacco,” said Chelsea Gomes, coordinator for Students Working Against Tobacco in Lee County. “And every other pitch is to urge all tobacco users at the game to start and end the Memorial Day Weekend in better health by quitting.”

Gomes, who works for the Florida Department of Health in Lee County, said the students will highlight Big Tobacco’s sweet deception in candy-flavored tobacco products that lure children into the unhealthy addiction. They hope to honor our deceased war veterans by saving lives from the perils of tobacco through fun skits, electronic messages, great giveaways and games.
