Lee County, FL— The Florida Department of Health in Lee County launches its Florida Health Cleans Up! project today in support of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) roadside litter prevention media campaign “Drive it home…Keep Our Paradise Litter Free” released earlier.

Locally, 12 employees from DOH-Lee will participate in Terry Park and Garden Clean Up. About 12 times per year, Terry Park and its Community Garden will be swept by this team.

“We are very excited to join our Lee County Parks and Recreation partners to increase the beauty of Terry Park and help maintain a healthy environment for all Lee County residents to enjoy,” said Kevin Kirkwood, Health Promotions and Wellness manager for DOH-Lee.

Florida Health Cleans Up! is a venture of Healthiest Weight Florida, a public-private collaboration bringing together state agencies, not-for-profit organizations, businesses and entire communities to help Florida’s children and adults make consistent, informed choices about healthy eating and active living. The Department’s goal is to encourage physical activity and walking while emphasizing how small choices affect your health and environment.
