This program includes mobile home parks where the lots are not individually owned, lodging and recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps. The objective of this program is to minimize the risk of injury and illness in this residential environment. The establishments that meet these criteria are licensed annually by the Florida Department of Health in Lee County (DOH-Lee). DOH-Lee conducts routine inspections, plan reviews, educational programs, and enforcement actions. DOH-Lee personnel also investigate environmental health complaints to protect the public from:
- Hazards of untreated sewage
- Disease transmission from unapproved water supplies
- Ensures garbage does not cause sanitary nuisances injurious to health
- Roadways are passable for emergency vehicles
- Drainage is planned to eliminate standing water and the creation of mosquito breeding sites.
