Fort Myers, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Lee County (DOH-Lee) is offering COVID-19 vaccine to high-risk frontline health care workers and those 65 and older. DOH-Lee staff will have 300 doses of vaccine available at each site. Sites are supported by Lee County Public Safety.

There is no fee for the vaccine, and no appointment is necessary. Please bring identification and, if you are a healthcare worker, a copy of your ID badge or a current paystub. These are not drive-thru sites; all sites are ADA compliant. To expedite the registration process, you may visit https://www.leegov.com/vaccine to download, print and complete the consent form prior to visiting one of the vaccination sites.

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine
On December 18, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the second vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019, COVID-19. The Moderna vaccine is a 2-dose series separated by 28 days.

According to CDC, both this disease and the vaccine are new. We don’t know how long protection lasts for those who get infected or those who are vaccinated. What we do know is that COVID-19 has caused very serious illness and death for a lot of people. If you get COVID-19, you risk giving it to loved ones who may get very sick. Getting a COVID-9 vaccine is a safer choice.
