DOH-Lee Highlights Mental Health First Aid Trainings

Lee County, Fla. —The Florida Department of Health in Lee County (DOH-Lee) is highlighting the importance of mental health by offering Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trainings to the community.  This training program is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to support those experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.

 

These free training sessions will take place on the following dates:

 

May 23, 2025

June 27, 2025

August 29, 2025

September 28, 2025

October 24, 2025

November 21, 2025

December 12, 2025

 

All trainings will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the following location:

 

DOH-Lee Pondella Clinic

83 Pondella Road,

North Fort Myers, 33903

 

MHFA equips participants to recognize warning signs, respond effectively in crisis and non-crisis situations, and connect individuals with appropriate professional support. Since 2020, DOH-Lee has provided 47 MHFA trainings and has successfully trained 560 community members to become Mental Health First Aiders. Trainings have been offered to the public and tailored sessions have been conducted for local non-profits, churches, colleges, volunteer organizations, educators, and more.
