Originally from New York State, Kevin Murphy began his career working with the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County as a data analyst in 2014. Early in 2017, he moved to Lee County and began to work on the accreditation process with a focus on performance management initiatives. Later in 2017, he began working in his current role as Director of Planning and Performance Management. Currently, Kevin oversees DOH-Lee’s Strategic Plan, Community Health Improvement Plan, Community Health Needs Assessment, Workforce Development Plan, Quality Improvement Plan, the Volunteer/Intern program, the DOH-Lee Performance Management Council, the Vital Statistics Department, and is the Equal Opportunity Compliance Officer.

In June 2019, he was a member of the first new cohort of the Public Health Executive Leadership school and remains active with USF’s school of Public Health in assisting future Public Health Leaders grow and take on more responsibilities. In 2020, he was elected as the Co-Chair of the Southwest Florida Performance Management and Quality Improvement Council and in 2021 began serving as Chair. From 2002 to 2012 Kevin was a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force and the NY Air National Guard traveling to extreme environments such as Antarctica and the North Pole.
