Lee County, Fla. — The end of another school year is near and the Department of Health in Lee County will be open on Saturday, May 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. so parents with students entering 7th grade can get a head start on the next school year.

All students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap booster before attending classes. Students not properly immunized by that first day of classes will be sent home. Taking care of these important immunizations now will ensure everyone gets to enjoy the first day of 7th grade as they should.

The immunization clinic is located at 3920 Michigan Avenue in Fort Myers. Those who plan to attend the DOH Lee immunization clinic for the first time should bring their child’s most recent shot record. These can be obtained from their personal healthcare provider or the school they attended most recently. All vaccines for children 18 years old and younger are free.

Meningitis and HPV vaccines are also recommended for children at the time they get their 7th grade Tdap booster. Get information on these and other vaccines recommended for children age 11 years old and up during your visit.

Avoid the RUSH, and make sure your child has everything needed before school starts.
