DOH-Lee Closure Announced

By Diane Holm

July 24, 2015

Lee County, FL— The Florida Department of Health in Lee County’s Women Infant and Children services in San Carlos are being temporarily relocated to its satellite office in Lehigh Acres and main office in Fort Myers beginning Monday, July 27, 2015.

“We are looking for a location between San Carlos and Bonita Springs because the majority of our south county clients live in those two areas,” said Shannon McEwen, WIC manager. “We are seeking interim and permanent locations, preferably on a bus route, and welcome community input.”

Services continue as usual at all other locations. San Carlos staff will be relocated to the two nearest sites at 5624 8th Street West, Suite 106, Lehigh Acres and 3920 Michigan Avenue, Fort Myers.

The WIC nutrition program helps qualified mothers and children under 5 obtain the nutritious food necessary to maintain good health. WIC also promotes the 5-2-1-0 program for healthy weight children.
